Name Origin:
Laker was the name of some kind of boat that was
used to sail in the Mississippi river.

Franchise History:
1947-48: Minneapolis Lakers (ABA)
1948-60: Minneapolis Lakers (NBA)
from 1960: Los Angeles Lakers (NBA)

NBA Titles:
1949, 1950, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1972, 1980,
1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001 and 2002.
14 championships and 13 conference titles (lost in the finals)
Los Angeles Lakers participated in 27 of the 54 finals of the NBA
